Butter Krust is an iconic business that made a significant economic impact on San Antonio. The company was established in 1882 and continues to operate to this day. Butter Krust products can still be found in H-E-Bs across the state, and many of our family members can still recall fieldtrips to the factory. This site is designed to tell the story of Butter Krust and to understand its place in San Antonio history.

Explore the numbered sections below to follow Butter Krust’s story chronologically. There are also links to additional resources for further learning and student activities.
