Beatriz Stotzer (2020 & 2021)

Beatriz Stotzer is the founder of New Economics for Women (NEW) in Los Angeles California and a board member of the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB). Beatrice Stotzer has dedicated her career to Chicano activism, advocating for gender equality, and building institutions to assist women and families achieve economic stability and happiness. 

Interview 1 (2020) summary

In this interview, Stotzer reflects on her experiences growing up in California amid several social and economic disadvantages. She shares how these experiences pushed her to pursue higher education and led to her participation in the Chicano Movement as an avid member of several Latina-led organizations. Beatriz held prominent titles in these various organizations which positioned her to branch out and establish NEW in 1985. Throughout her tenure as CEO of NEW, Beatriz worked to attract and direct funding to develop successful, comprehensive economic and housing programs for low-income families.
